IRP has compiled an extensive set of recent data on the University Corridor, defined as stretching from downtown St. Paul to the eastern neighborhoods of Minneapolis along University Avenue. IRP collected the data from the 1990 and 2000 U.S. Census, the Census Transportation Planning Package, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data, and more. The data is made available in the forms of Excel datasheets, bar charts and line graphs, as well as GIS (geographic information systems) maps, which comprise the bulk of the materials on this web site.
As planning for the proposed Central Corridor Light Rail Transit line proceeds, the data found on these pages may serve as a rich resource for all organizations and agencies interested in learning more about the current demographics of the many University Avenue communities.
Links are available along the right side of this page to a large PowerPoint containing nearly all of the data, as well as smaller files below that contain the individual PDF documents, grouped by subject area.
Many local organizations have participated in the development of the materials on this web site, including:
IRP appreciates their many questions about the data and maps, all of which have helped us push further to see what else the numbers can reveal about the communities. IRP staff are well versed in the contents of the materials on these web pages, and are glad to participate in community discussions about the future of the University Corridor. For more information about the materials on this web site, or to request a staff member of IRP to attend or participate in a community meeting, please email Jill Mazullo.
Support for this project was made possible by the Minneapolis Foundation.
