Loan program repopulating areas hit by foreclosures, but slowly

Brandt Williams, Minnesota Public Radio

“As the tide of foreclosures in Minneapolis recedes, it has left several hundred unoccupied homes in its wake. Now, through a program called the Minneapolis Advantage, parts of the city hit hardest by the foreclosure crisis – particularly the city’s northside – are slowly getting repopulated.”

“City officials say so far the program is a success. But critics worry that the city’s efforts will gentrify neighborhoods where low income and communities of color have traditionally lived.”
